Public Relations – deliberate, planned, performance, public interest, two-way communication, management function.

E – Evaluation

Public Relations vs. Advertising: advertising requires money.

Public Relations vs. Marketing: marketing focuses on customers.

Public Relations vs. Journalism: scope, objectives, channels are all different.

Five Essential Abilities

  • Writing skill
  • Research ability
  • Planning Expertise
  • Problem Solving ability
  • Business/economics competence

Value of Interships

Salaries in PR = starting out $30,000. (Women earn less then men)

Value of Public Relations = need people to interpret information for public interest.
