Effective Comments in Blogging

Week Three TOW 2322

Why are comments such an integral part of blogs? What advice would you offer on writing effective blog comments?

Comments are such an integral part of blogs because without them, then what is the point in having a blog at all. Comments are what keep the conversation going on a topic that the blogger publishes on his or her blog. They provide the opportunity to give feedback to a topic and therefore continue on the conversation.

Some advice I would offer a person about leaving comments is comments can be short or long. It really does not matter how long or short they are if you are writing in a straightforward manner. Generally, if you are leaving a comment on a person’s blog that is relating to a topic then a comment is a couple of words.

Furthermore, you do not want to be writing a story on a person’s page. Keep your comments to the point. Make sure there are not long paragraphs filling the page. If you do have a lot to say about a topic, write using short paragraphs that makes it easier to read.

On the other hand, if you are leaving a comment on a person’s blog about the mundane tasks of life few words are acceptable. I would caution a person from writing about the mundane things in life like “I just got up from a nap.” These kind of comments are more appropriate for Twitter accounts.

There are even ways to filter what comments show up on your page. It is important that if you have a blog or any other social networking media to keep updating it and checking it throughout the week. The reason being you have no idea what is being posted or what kind of comments are being left on your page if you are not checking it.
