SEU TNL (Thursday Night Live)

On Thursday September 23, 2010, the student body leader council (SBLC) at Southeastern University put on the production called Thursday Night Live with the theme being SEUTube. This event is a spin off of the show Saturday Night Live where Southeastern Students have the opportunity to show off their humorous talents to the rest of the student body through skits, music, live band, commercials, etc.

The doors for the event opened at 9pm, but students started to line up outside of Bush Chapel at 7:30pm. There were over 600 people that showed up for TNL. It is one of the most well attended events that SBLC (Student Body Leadership Council) puts on every year for the rest of the student body.

As the students walked thru Bush Chapel’s doors there was a live video feed camera where once inside Bush Chapel you can see all the audience members coming in behind you. Then the hosts Lizze Charlton and Zach Whitt entered from the back of the auditorium.

One of the most anticipated acts of the night is Shake N’ Bake where 12 male students perform the choreography from dancing to bicycle riding to stunts. This act is the last act of the night that is the icing on the cake. A surprising excellent performance was done by Seth Spencer and three other female actresses reenacting the El Prado pick lines or techniques that guys will do in order to meet the ladies on campus and the outcomes of those scenarios.

Overall, Thursday Night Live was a major success with lots of laughs and a great time to come together as a community away from the stresses of class and work that students may experience through their college experience. There were many popular videos shown from Youtube such as Charlie Bit Me and Scarlet takes a tumble to name a few. Great job to all who contributed to make Thursday Night Live happen.

TNL was a blast! Everyone did such a great job. I was able to participate with my friend and the host of TNL, Lizzie Charlton, in a skit we called, “College Fair”. We sang 5 songs and had a few dance moves trying to convince a student on why he should come to Southeastern. The SBLC team did a wonderful job putting everything together for the night. I am already anticipating next years TNL and hope to carry on the skit that we started this year. It was so nice being apart of everything because I got one of the best seats in the house. Thanks for all you did Elaine!

I was one of the females in the skit with Seth Spencer! 🙂 Being apart of TNL was such a good experience, especially as a communications major. I produced The Bachelor video and got a taste of what producing is like and although I’m not sure if that’s what I want to do, I loved it. I love that you write about current events at Southeastern University. TNL combined aspects of viral videos shown on the web and showcased talent and spoofs of Southeastern University. TNL was such a fun event, and SBLC and everyone else involved did an absolutely wonderful job!
